Jeffrey Thompson

Co-Head, President, GID Credit

Jeffrey Thompson is Co-Head and President of GID Credit. Mr. Thompson is a member of the firm’s Executive and Credit Investment Committees. Mr. Thompson has more than 29 years of experience in commercial real estate, including direct investment, large loan lending, private equity fundraising, and asset and portfolio management.

Prior to joining GID, Mr. Thompson served as Head of Private CRE Debt for PIMCO Alternative Investment Strategies. While at PIMCO, Mr. Thompson spearheaded the fundraising of the firm’s first private CRE debt fund with $1.25B in commitments from various global institutional investors. Mr. Thompson also assembled a team to include originators, asset managers, and legal for $5.0B in origination capacity. He led the Investment Committee for all private CRE debt-related investments.

Prior to PIMCO, Mr. Thompson was Managing Director and Co-Head of Real Estate for Annaly Capital. Prior to Annaly, Mr. Thompson spent 20 years at GE Capital Real Estate, managing risk, investing in private equity CRE funds, and lending to private equity firms. While at GE Capital, he led the institutional Investing and Lending Group and worked with the Risk Management Group, valuing real estate investments globally for the firm’s balance sheet.

Mr. Thompson received a BA in Finance from the University of Toronto.
